Anderson, Baize Placed on Scholarship for Spring Semester

Jan. 5, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – Tiger basketball walk-ons Zavier Anderson and Jonah Baize have been placed on scholarship for the spring semester, Head Coach Brad Brownell announced Wednesday. The two players have been part of the Clemson program since 2007 and have combined to appear in 54 games.

“I’m happy to be able to award Zavier and Jonah scholarships for the second semester,” Brownell said. “They have both worked really hard on the basketball court and in the classroom, and are certainly deserving of this reward. I enjoy coaching both young men and truly appreciate their contributions to our program.”

Anderson has played in 12 of Clemson’s 15 games this season, with three starting assignments. He became the first walk-on to start a non-Senior Night game since Walker Holt in 2002 when he started the Dec. 17 contest against Savannah State in place of an injured Demontez Stitt. Anderson has averaged 1.8 points and 1.2 assists per game, while adding eight steals this season.

Baize has played in four games this season and in 17 over the course of his career with the Tigers. He has yet to score this season, but did post six points in the final minute of Clemson’s win over Winthrop last season.
