Alix Lacelarie Named ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

CLEMSON, SC- Clemson’s Alix Lacelarie was named the Atlantic Coast Conference women’s tennis player of the week for the week of Apr. 1. Lacelarie, a freshman from Villeneuve-Les-Beziers, France, is currently ranked #83 by the ITA in singles.

Lacelarie currently holds a 13-4 record in dual matches and a 3-1 record in the ACC. Last weekend, she defeated Maryland’s 38th-ranked Delila Causevic in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(9-7). Earlier this season, Lacelarie was victorious over #50 Erica Perkins of Washington State, 6-4, 6-3, and lost a 6-0, 6-2 decision to number one-ranked Bea Bielik of Wake Forest.

Lacelarie also holds a 13-4 overall record in doubles, and a 4-0 record in ACC doubles matches. She and teammate Laurence Jayet are currently ranked #31 by the ITA in doubles. The team defeated Old Dominion’s 10th-ranked duo of Cahana and Radeljevic by a score of 8-4, and was also victorious over Georgia’s #13 team of Grey and Cioroch, 8-4.

The Clemson women’s tennis team was ranked 44th by the ITA in the poll released on Apr. 3. The Tigers improve from their rank of 53rd in last week’s poll. Clemson is 11-7 on the season, and 3-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. So far this season, the Tigers are 3-5 in matches against ranked teams, including wins over #43 Maryland, #44 Oklahoma and #48 Virginia, and losses to #1 Georgia, #6 Wake Forest, #22 South Carolina, #46 Washington State and #55 Old Dominion. The Tigers have won six of their last seven matches.
