Alabama Defeats Clemson 4-2

MONTGOMERY, AL – Alabama defeated Clemson 4-2 in the second round of competition at the Blue-Gray Men’s Tennis Classic in Montgomery, AL Saturday evening. Alabama is ranked 49th while the Tigers are ranked 66th in the latest ITA National Rankings. The Crimson Tide improves to 4-4 this year, and Clemson falls to 3-5 this season.

Yannick Maden, ranked 75th nationally defeated Jarryd Botha at number-one singles 6-2, 6-2. Maden has an 18-4 record overall in singles play. This season he is 6-2 in dual matches. He has won six matches in a row.

Cedric Willems defeated Carlos Taborga, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 at number-five singles for the Tigers other singles victory.

The Tigers will play 14th-ranked Auburn Sunday in the third round of this event. Clemson lost to Tennessee 4-3 late Friday in this tournament.
