AgSouth Homegrown Athlete of the Week – Patricia Mamona

Mamona established a personal best in the triple jump Saturday and nearly eclipsed former NCAA indoor champion Gisele Oliveira’s school record in the event at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. Mamona fell just one inch shy of Oliveira’s school record in producing her second NCAA automatic qualifying mark of the season.

Mamona hit the automatic NCAA standard in five of her six attempts Saturday, and on her sixth and final jump she produced a personal best at 45’0.5″. Mamona was actually the runner-up in the event to Florida’s Shara Proctor.
