Daniel Rodriguez, Football, Freshman, Stafford, VA
Rodriguez was named the recipient of the Discover Orange Bowl Courage Award earlier this month. The honor is voted on by the Football Writers Association and honors a college football player for his courage both on and off the field.
Rodriguez became a member of the Clemson football team after serving the United States Army in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2006-09. He is one of two active college football players with a Purple Heart. He is the second Clemson athlete to win the award, joining Ray Ray McElrathbey in 2006. Clemson is the only school to have two recipients of the award.
